Who: Echo and Sasha
What: Pacific Rim AU
Warnings: TBD

The Kaidanovskys were absent when the alarm function on her cellphone roused Echo from her sleep. The medic cursed and fought with the sheets as she fumbled around for the damned thing in the dark, finally finding it on the bedside table where she had left it the night before. She forced her eyes open and glared at the offending object as she dragged herself into an upright position, all but punching the dismiss button and dropping the phone to her lap as she scrubbed a hand over her face. She vaguely recalled being woken earlier by Aleksis who explained that he and Sasha had a meeting to attend, but she had been too out of it at the time to do much more than nod and pull the blankets over her head. It had been three days since she had gotten any decent amount of sleep, and there was still another shift to go before she actually had a day off. Her phone went off again and she realized that she had been zoned out for several minutes. Heaving a dramatic sigh she tossed aside the blankets and all but fell out of the oversized bed, drunkenly stumbling across the cold floor in the direction of the bathroom for a shower. Sometimes she suspected that the people who designed Vladivostok Shatterdome purposely made the floors in the barracks rooms bare cement not out of financial reasons but because the shock of the cold surface against bare skin helped wake up the Rangers and technicians when the kaiju alarms went off in the middle of the night.

Forty minutes later she reemerged wrapped in a large towel and feeling closer to human than she had in the last seventy two hours. Shivering in the chill of the room she quickly ruffled through the dresser and closet until she found a change of clothing in her size, making mental notes as she did so on what she was running low on. Sasha and Aleksis had offered to let her move in with them on a full time basis but she had declined, citing that her personal quarters were closer to the medical wing while theirs was closer to the Jaeger bays. And so she compromised by keeping a drawer and duffel bag of her things in their room for when she needed them. Dumping the armful of clothes onto the bed she finished drying off and got dressed, setting up the coffee maker to brew a fresh pot and making the bed before ducking back into the bathroom to finish drying her hair. She still had more than an hour before she had to make her way down to the infirmary to begin her shift, so she was in no particular hurry now that she was awake and moving and no longer looked quite like death warmed over.
